The President of the New York Stock Exchange, Stacey Cunningham, will be held as part of the exchange held by the NYSE’s parent company, Intercontinental Exchange, Inc.

In a press release on Monday, ICE founder and CEO Jeff Sprecher said that Cunningham “begins a new chapter in her career” and will leave her current position by the end of the year when she joins the NYSE board of directors.

Cunningham joined the NYSE nine years ago and became the exchange’s first female president in 2018. According to the Wall Street Journal, “She looked at the ICE leadership a few months ago to continue her career, said a person familiar with the matter.”

“Stacey led the NYSE through an extraordinary era in which its technology was resilient and its trading systems thrived in even the most tumultuous times,” spokesman wrote in a memo to staff. “She begins a new chapter with the stock market, better and stronger for her tireless efforts and with our deepest thanks.”

Cunningham’s successor was named Lynn Martin, who is currently President of ICE’s Fixed Income and Data Services.

“Congratulations to my friend and colleague, Lynn Martin, who has been named the next president of @NYSE,” Cunningham tweeted after the announcement. “The future of the stock market is bright and couldn’t be in better hands.”

Among other leadership changes announced by ICE, current ICE and NYSE board member Sharon Bowen will become the next NYSE chairperson, a role to be passed by Spokesman.

In addition, current NYSE Director of Capital Markets, Amanda Hildlian, will replace Martin as President of ICE’s Pension and Data Services while Martin remains in the chair.
