JPMorgan Chase & Co has offered its employees the option to work from home for the first two weeks of 2022, with the caveat that all employees are expected to return to the office no later than February 1, according to a memo from Reuters.

The bank informed workers that it would not change the long-term plans for working in the office. “With the increase in vacation travel and gatherings, we are allowing more flexibility in the first two weeks of January to work from home at the discretion of your manager (if your role allows),” the memo says.
Citigroup has also asked its employees to work from home for the first few weeks of 2022, a person familiar with the matter told Reuters.

The bank had told employees in its New York office on December 15 that they could work from home if they could get through the holidays.
U.S. banks have been more proactive than other industries in encouraging employees to return to the office, but these plans have been re-examined due to the rapid spread of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus.

Earlier this month, JPMorgan directed unvaccinated Manhattan employees to work from home, while relaxing mask requirements for vaccinated staff working in its Manhattan offices.
