Credit card rewards are big business. Forty-seven percent of adults say they’ve only used a credit card for its rewards. Many credit card rewards are sold based on the promise of a free ride. In contrast, we save and invest our credit card rewards.

Over three years, our invested premiums have grown to $30,676.28. Sign-up bonuses were a big part of that balance. Although we never receive a card just for the sign up bonus, this is a big part of our review.
With that in mind, here are seven cards that offer some of the best signup deals. Note that I cover hundreds of credit card sign up bonuses at allcards.com.
7 Credit Card Signup Bonuses
1. Venture X – $750 bonus
Capital One’s Venture X card offers a sign-up bonus of 75,000 miles if you spend $4,000 on the card within three months of account opening. Capital One miles have a value of 1 cent/mile when used for travel. As such, the sign-up bonus is worth up to $750.
The card costs $395 annual fee. However, this fee is offset by a number of other perks. Cardholders receive a 10,000-mile anniversary bonus worth up to $100, a $300 annual travel credit when booking through Capital One Travel, and a $100 credit toward Global Entry or TSA PreCheck.
2. Amex Platinum – $1,500 bonus
Like many Amex cards, this card has a hefty $695 annual fee, but it comes with some great benefits. The Amex Platinum card awards an impressive sign-up bonus of 150,000 points when you spend $6,000 on your new card after six minutes of account opening.
This card has a long list of perks, including up to 5x points earned on flights and prepaid hotels, a $200 annual credit on airlines and hotels, even a statement for the cost of a monthly Walmart+ membership. It also offers billing credits for Uber, Equinox, SoulCycle at-home, and Saks when you use your Amex card.
Remember that the value of Amex Membership Rewards points depends on how they are redeemed.
3. Chase Sapphire Preferred – $750 bonus
The Chase Sapphire Preferred card sign-up bonus is another solid choice, offering cardholders a $60,000 bonus if they spend $4,000 on purchases within three months of account opening, plus a $95 annual fee.
Cardholders also receive an annual hotel credit of $50 USD on booked hotel stays and 5x on travel purchases booked through Chase Ultimate Rewards, plus 2x points on all other travel purchases and 3x on online grocery purchases excluding Walmart, Target and wholesale stores. Other perks include a 10 percent anniversary bonus, meaning you earn points equal to 10 percent of what you spent on your card over the past year.
The value of Chase Points varies by map. Bonus value on the Sapphire Preferred card requires points to be used to book travel through Chase.
4. US Bank Altitude Connect – $500
If you want a lower spending card to earn the sign-up bonus, then the US Bank Altitude Connect could be for you. Spend just $2,000 within 120 days of opening your card and get a solid 50,000 points bonus.
The card offers 5x points on prepaid hotel and car rentals through the Altitude Rewards Center, 4x points on gas and travel, 2x points on groceries and restaurants, and 1x point on all other purchases. You’ll also receive a $100 credit towards Global Entry or TSA PreCheck®. This card offers a $0 annual fee for the first year and a $95 annual fee each year thereafter.
5. Chase Freedom Unlimited – $200 Bonus
If you prefer a more cash-intensive sign-up bonus, the Chase Freedom Unlimited card might be for you. Not only does this card have no annual fee, but it also offers a $200 cashback sign-up bonus if you spend $500 within the first three months. Enjoy more cashback options with this card, from 5% on trips booked through Chase Ultimate Rewards, up to 3% on eat-in and take-out, 3% on drugstore spend and 1.5% on all other purchases.
6. Citi Premier – $800 bonus
Earn a sign-up bonus of 80,000 points when you spend $4,000 with your Citi Premier Card within three months of account opening. Points can be redeemed for $800 worth of travel or gift cards. You can also transfer points to Citi travel partners to earn more value.
This card has several other perks, such as 3x points for spending at restaurants, supermarkets and gas stations, plus 3x points for air travel and hotels and 1x for all other purchases. You’ll also receive an annual hotel credit of $100, plus international transaction fees. The annual fee for the Citi Premier Card is $95.
7. Amex Gold – $900 bonus
Our second Amex pick on the list, the American Express Gold card offers a whopping sign-up bonus — 90,000 points — and a little more time to get there, with a $4,000 minimum within the first six months of account opening.
This gives you 4x points on restaurants and supermarkets, 3x points on flights and 1x points on all other expenses. You’ll also get $120 in annual Uber credit when you link your card to your Uber account. The annual fee for this card is $250.
Bonus card – Chase Ink preferred – $1,250
I’m including an additional card for those who own a small business, including those with side hustles. I bought the Chase Ink Preferred card this year for its amazing sign up bonus (100,000 points after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months) and the many rewards. It comes with a $95 annual fee, but the rewards more than make up for the cost.
The realm of credit card rewards can be intimidating. But it’s all about finding the best card for you, whether you’re looking for the lowest annual fee, the best sign-up bonus, or the most points for travel spending. And as you save and invest your rewards, they can add up to a sizable sum.
